A unique interactive toy that helps dogs stay healthy, happy, and entertained. Whether your dog likes to pull, tug, spin, or fetch, the Tether Tug is the perfect outdoor toy for your dog.
Dogs, like us, need daily cardiovascular exercise in order to stay fit and healthy both mentally and physically. Play is an opportunity for you to stimulate your dog’s mind as well as strengthen his body. It is a way to channel your dog’s boundless energy, prevent boredom, and allow him to express himself in creative ways (rather than the destructive ways that sometime occur when your dog is bored or anxious). Regular daily exercise not only helps to improve your dog’s mental health and his disposition, but it also allows for an overall happier, healthier pet.
The Tether Tug is an innovative toy that dogs love. It simulates dogs' favorite game - tug-of-war! Animal behaviorists theorize that dogs love tug-of-war because it mimics the hunting, scavenging, and grabbing skills that dogs have honed for millions of years. This grabbing and shaking play is instinctual an excellent way for dogs to get some high-intensity exercise while channeling their energy into creative play. But their strength and agility at this game can quickly wear out their human playmates. This was the creative inspiration for the original Tether Tug toy for dogs. Is your dog ready for a rousing game of tug-of-war?
Dogs that were bred to herd or bred as sporting dogs need a lot of exercise, and they thrive on one or two 60 to 90 minute sessions of intense exercise daily. As working dogs that have been trained over the years to do specific jobs, they can get bored easily and turn to mischief. They love challenges, and especially the tug-of-war challenge.
Terriersare bouncy and full of personality, from the Cairn to the Airedales, they need a lot of exercise. A minimum of 60 minutes daily of intense exercise is an absolute must for these dogs.
Hounds require a good deal of daily exercise. Greyhounds are sprinters and thus have slightly lower exercise needs than scent hounds, whose needs are similar to the herding and sporting dogs.
The Large Tether Tug comes with a 55" pole that is stronger and has a heavier core than the smaller Tether Tug units to stand up to the strongest "pullers". The pole is still flexible and bendable and includes an in-ground base that allows the tug to remain firmly in the ground and be removed when needed. Also included is a knotted rope toy that is set higher off the ground for larger dogs. The "quick connector" allows for easy changing of toys when needed.
