K+ Media used inside this filter system can filter down to one micron. The design and shape encourage a stable biofilm without impacting water flow through the unit. During the manufacturing process special minerals, magnesium, calcium, salt, and enzymes are added, greatly reducing start-up and the maturation time typically needed for biological filters. Both the media and filter maximize your pump's efficiency, making this unit economical to run.

A good filter starts with a smart design, manufactured to last. Monitor the filter during operation through the clear viewing lid at the top and the air pressure release valve. The filter body is one piece rotationally moulded with built-in feet to eliminate joint lines and the potential for leaks. The wall thickness of the cylindrical filter is consistent throughout for added durability. Unlike many filters on the market, the K+ Advanced comes pre-filled with media to make installation quick and easy. Evolution Aqua designed these filters to allow an unrestricted flow of water through the unit. Due to this, you can get away with using a lower flow pump that uses less electricity.

The filter is operated by a multiport valve with six settings. The easy-to-operate backwash and rinse feature allows for easy cleaning of the K+ Media and removal of waste, debris, and dead bacteria. The air blower helps to agitate the media and loosen waste during the rinse cycle. Many pressurized filters on the market do not include an air blower which is a beneficial feature and improves the cleaning process. K+ Advanced filters come with all the pipework needed to connect the valve assembly and blower to your filter. Some of the pipework is preassembled. It’s recommended to dry-fit the parts together before adding PVC glue.
