Woodstock Chimes Rite of Spring
Celebrating the rituals of spring, this chime is tuned to the notes of the opening theme of Igor Stravinsky's Rite of Spring.
Woodstock Chimes Rite of Spring
Stravinsky's Rite of Spring lends itself well to the randomness of a chime played by the wind. This composition, which created a riot at its premiere in Paris in 1913, has had a profound influence on music to this day. Putting this windchime out could be your own spring ritual. Or leave it out year round for music in all seasons. (For more information on Stravinsky's Rite of Spring, read this NPR piece: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=88490677)
Maintenance: Every part of a Woodstock Chime is weather protected. Over time, however, those layers of protection can begin to wear. To enjoy your Woodstock Chimes for years to come, we suggest the following simple maintenance tips -
Periodically, apply a thin layer of Danish or lemon oil with a clean cloth to the hardwood parts. Regular oiling will help protect the wood and retard the natural aging process.
Woodstock Chimes tubes are made of anodized aluminum that will not rust when exposed to the elements. However, over time, the aluminum may show pitting as a result of environmental factors. Please note this will not affect the beautiful tones of your chimes. If necessary, use mild soap and water (or a foaming, non-abrasive cleanser) to clean the tubes. You can also use very fine #00 steel wool to polish and restore your aluminum tubes.
